Kintock Introduces SmarterU: A New Approach to Training

Kintock is thrilled to announce the pilot of a new, flexible, web-based training platform called SmarterU. Designed to simplify onboarding, enhance efficiency, and increase accessibility, SmarterU empowers employees to access training materials anytime, eliminating the need for traditional classroom settings. The pilot program began in February, with a full rollout scheduled for March 3.

“The introduction of SmarterU has transformed our company-wide training process,” said Deborah Oree, Corporate Director of Training. “We’ve restructured the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program to include a mix of eLearning, virtual, classroom, and on-site sessions, allowing us to tailor training to individual needs while boosting engagement.”

Streamlined New Employee Orientation (NEO)

One of the biggest changes is a streamlined NEO program, reducing the training schedule from five days to just three. This change minimizes travel to the corporate office and decreases the time employees spend off-site.

The revised schedule, which will be offered monthly, focuses on delivering essential content related to our services and the populations we serve. Additional training previously included in the five-day program is now available on the SmarterU platform, giving employees the flexibility to complete it at their convenience.

Integrated Learning for Diverse Styles

Most important, SmarterU’s integrated learning model addresses diverse employee needs offering three distinct styles:

Web-Based Training: Perfect for employees who prefer independent learning.

Virtual Learning:Offers a classroom-like experience in the comfort of one’s environment.

On-Site Training:Fosters interaction between instructors and employees, encouraging collaboration across sites.

“This blended approach not only allows us to tailor training to individual needs but also helps employees continue to upskill and reskill which can boost morale and provide employees with opportunities to advance in the company,” said Ms. Oree.

Enhanced Accessibility and Convenience

SmarterU allows employees to complete mandatory and refresher training at their own pace within specified timeframes. Supervisors can easily track progress, provide guidance, and ensure compliance with contractor and accreditation requirements.

The platform also enables personalized training by tailoring courses to meet individual needs. For example, employees can access resources to improve their understanding of Kintock’s policies or address specific performance areas.

Extensive Training Resources

SmarterU combines customized Kintock-specific courses with an extensive library of over 120 professional-quality video-based courses. Among the key topics covered are:

· Professionalism

· Management Skills

· Diversity Awareness

· Workplace Respect

· Conflict Avoidance

“Kintock-specific training courses provides the employee with a broader knowledge base of how to more effectively deliver services to our population. There are position specific courses that address various scenarios and situations that employees may face,” noted Ms. Oree.

Consistent and Measurable Training Delivery

SmarterU ensures consistent, high-quality training across the organization. Each module measures comprehension objectively, ensuring that all employees are aligned with Kintock’s mission and the best practices required to achieve it.

With SmarterU, Kintock is not just improving training delivery but redefining how employees learn, grow, and succeed within the company.
