Kintock is thrilled to announce the recent award of a grant that will allow us to provide workforce reentry services to formerly incarcerated individuals in northern New Jersey. The grant was awarded in response to the New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) Job Opportunities for Building Success Notice of Grant Opportunity (NGO), which was announced in early May and had a quick turnaround.

Equipping Justice-Involved Individuals Through Workforce Reentry

The aim of this grant is to facilitate the successful reentry of justice-involved participants into the workforce. The program will provide training opportunities, supportive services, and employment for these individuals.

Justice-involved individuals encounter many unique challenges when attempting to return to the workforce. This population faces more barriers to employment compared to the rest of the community and requires additional services and client-specific approaches to address these issues.

Kintock to Deliver Comprehensive Program Across Seven New Jersey Counties

Kintock will deliver workforce training, career services, paid internships, employment placement, and supportive services to 400 eligible justice-involved individuals residing in the northern region of New Jersey, encompassing Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren counties.

Leveraging its well-established program sites in Essex and Passaic Counties, Kintock’s Newark and Paterson Vantage Point sites will serve as central hubs for the JOBs program. Additionally, Kintock has identified libraries in each of the other counties in the north region (Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Sussex, and Warren), from which it will reserve space to establish program hubs, ensuring accessibility to JOBS program services for clients across all seven counties outlined in the NGO. Employment staff will be available to meet with clients at the hub most accessible to them. The JOBS program will operate with flexible hours to accommodate the diverse schedules of clients, and will provide transportation for any client who lacks the ability to get to the hub on their own.

The grant period commenced on June 1, 2024 and will run through May 31, 2026.
