Employee Spotlight: Felicia Conner Leads by Example

Felicia Conner, Facility Director of Kintock’s Newark Work Release program, has built a remarkable career spanning nearly three decades with Kintock. Since joining the company in 1997 as a Family Services Coordinator for Kintock’s first treatment program in Newark, she played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s reentry services. With her expertise in mental health and unwavering dedication, Felicia was instrumental in implementing and refining the program, earning praise and recognition from her supervisor.


Over the next decade, Felicia steadily advanced through leadership roles including, Deputy Director of the program’s treatment component and Program Director. Ultimately, she served as Senior Director, overseeing all program directors for the men and women’s programs in Newark, including Kintock’s NJDOC, parole and federal programs.


Inspiring and Mentoring Female Staff


One of Felicia’s most notable contributions is the mentorship program she developed for Kintock employees. Focused on supporting female staff, the program addresses common challenges women face in the field of reentry. Felicia continues to provide guidance, encouragement and professional development to her colleagues.


“Ms. Conner has been a true mentor and inspiration throughout my time at Kintock. Her confidence, wisdom, and unwavering guidance have shaped not only my career but also the person I am today. She leads by example, providing the tools for success to those willing to learn, and her impact reaches further than she even realizes," said Jennifer Garcia, Site Administrator in Newark.


A Holistic Approach to Reentry Services


Reflecting on her time at Kintock, Felicia values the opportunity to take a holistic approach to resident services. She enjoys getting to know reentrants and understanding their family background to provide the best possible support.


One of the most rewarding aspects of her role has been the opportunity to shape both the positions she’s held and the program’s she has helped manage. She truly enjoys sharing her wisdom and creativity to help others. She finds great fulfillment in shaping the programs she has helped manage and appreciates being valued and trusted she has been given in her leadership roles.


When asked what advice she would give someone interested in this field, Felica emphasizes the importance of being open to learning, receptive to new information, and disciplined in their approach. She highlights integrity, strong communication skills and a willingness to seek out knowledge as essential qualities for success in a management role.


Outside of work, Felicia enjoys running, hiking, attending outdoor music festivals. An avid traveler, she has completed the Chicago and Marine Corps Marathon and looks forward to participating in another marathon in the future.


Felicia’s dedication, leadership and passion for her work make her an invaluable member of the Kintock team. Her willingness to mentor, support and guide others continues to leave a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the reentrants Kintock serves.
